Abstract:  Gary Riggs, DVM, ABVP, is staff veterinarian for the Akron Zoological Park; consulting veterinarian for the University of Akron Department of Biology; owner of the Braberton Veterinary Clinic and the Bird and Exotic Specialty Hospital in Norton, OH; and part owner of the Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital. He has served on the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association’s Board of Directors for 9 years and on the Ohio Animal Health Foundation’s Board for 6 years. He currently serves as president of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital. Questions cover topics of interest to compounding pharmacists, including types of medications used in his practice (specializing in birds and exotics), common problems with birds, approaching the veterinary market and cost effectiveness of compounding for these types of clients.
