Abstract: This article presents an example demonstrating the making of capsules from an oral dosage form of a different strength. The example concerns a dosage form of enalapril 7.5 mg, but this drug comes only as tablets of 2, 5, 10 and 20 mg. General steps are provided for making 100 capsules of enalapril 7.5 mg, using the active powder from the 20-mg tablets and lactose as filler. The authors also provide a worksheet showing how to perform calculations involved in making capsules using tablets of a different strength.
