Abstract:  The stability of 0.5-mg/mL aqueous solutions of mitomycin (Mutamycin®) has been investigated using a stability-indicating, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) assay method. The solutions were stored in prefilled, 1-mL tuberculin syringes at 25 and 5°C. The solutions were stable for seven days at 25°C and 28 days at 5°C. The physical appearance and pH value of the solutions did not change before the recommended expiry dates. However, the commercially available powder for injection, which was to expire five months later, had products of decomposition. The authors were unable to get an explanation from the company about this decomposition problem.
